Caring store and customers help Corseford

-

A generous shop owner handed over a £500 to help fund a sensory garden for pupils at a Johnstone school for children with disabilities.

Staff at John’s Shop, on Hallhill Road, donated the cash to Corseford Capability School to help pay for equipment in their new garden facility.

The school has a number of stateof-the art facilities which make a vital difference to the lives of the pupils - and is hoping the extra money from owner John Hussain and his staff will help make their latest project complete.

The money was raised thanks to generous customers popping their spare change in a tin on the counter in the busy U-Save store.

Like all other schools across Renfrewshire, Corseford school is currently closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Staff are looking forward to welcoming pupils back in August this year, and were touched that they remained in the community’s thoughts during the pandemic.

Lor raine Bro d i e, senior administrator at Corseford, said: “We are in the middle of developing a sensory garden for our pupils when they come back in August and this will help us to get a good few extra bits.

“In the light of everything that is happening at the moment we are absolutely over the moon that our local community are thinking of us still.”

NHS staff will continue to receive a 10 per cent discount at Morrisons supermarkets across Renfrewshire till the end of September.

Initially intended as a 12-week discount, the move is a thank you to hard working NHS staff during the fight against coronavirus.

It was first introduced in April as the country adjusted to life in lockdown.

For the first time, NHS workers will also be able to gain the discount if they are ordering a home delivery through Morrisons.com

To get the online discount, they need to sign up for the Morrisons NHS Club. In store, staff should show their NHS card.

David Potts, Morrisons chief executive, said:“We want to thank everybody in the National Health Service for playing their part in the ongoing battle against the coronavirus.

“We hope this measure, combined with our dedicated hours for NHS staff, will make life a little easier at this very challenging time for them.”

Morrisons has also introduced an NHS hour at the beginning of every day from 6am to 7am. On Sundays, the majority of stores open at 9am for hard working NHS workers to shop.
