Keep in touch with tradition

-

Fèis Phàislig is hosting its first ever online learning this month with short courses created by some of Scotland’s best traditional musicians and tutors.

The organisation, which gives young people aged five to 18 the opportunity to learn traditional music and Gaelic, has redeveloped its summer programme following the coronavirus outbreak.

With its annual Fèis Week, a four-day camp of comeand-try workshops, unable to take place this summer, Fèis Phàislig have developed an exciting new resource that can be used at home.

There are lessons available for young people at all levels, with courses developed for early years, complete beginners, improvers and more advanced young musicians.

Participants can develop skills in music, dance, drama, filmmaking and singing.

The courses, which go live on July 21, have been developed by a host of talent including Eilidh Cormack, Ainsley Hamill, Stevie Fivey, Sarah MacNeil and Todd Weller.

Grant McFarlane, Fèis coordinator, said: “We are really excited about this new project for 2020. Our first ever online range of classes will give young people all across Scotland, and potentially even further, the chance to join our community and learn some fun new skills at home.

“Our tutors have worked hard on developing some brilliant content for young people at home which can be accessed anytime, anywhere.”

Access to Fèis Online costs £40 per household, which is a one- time payment that allows participants to access and keep all lessons forever.
