Caring Suzanne and Lauren’s charity gets set for its first wedding

- DAVID CAMPBELL

A charity set up to help terminally ill patients tie the knot in style has helped plan its first wedding.

Renfrew pals Suzanne Stevenson and Lauren Roy-Sutherland have been inundated with donations and support for Wedding Wish Makers since it launched earlier this month.

And now they are involved in supporting their first couple to get hitched.

In her appeal for help, Suzanne said: “We have been given the honour of helping to plan a wedding for a very special gentleman from Glasgow.

“We are looking for your support with a wedding for this gentleman who is terminally ill with cancer and only has a short time to live.

“His dream is to marry his lovely fiancée on Saturday, August 15.

“The couple’s friends and family have been amazing and organised most things for them.”

The pair were tasked with securing a videographer, cake, car, decor and chair covers for the big day, which they have now done thanks to kind donations from members of the public.”

Lauren added: “Thank you so much to everyone who offered their help and support – we are absolutely blown away by your generosity.”

Suzanne and Lauren also revealed that they have been overwhelmed with donations since the charity launched.

The space gifted to them by the Clutha Trust is now full and they have decided to suspend donation collections.

Suzanne said: “Thanks so much to everyone who has made very kind donations of wedding attire to us.

“At the moment our storage is full.

“This means we now need to focus our time on sorting through and organising all these beautiful dresses, shoes and accessories.

“We have decided to suspend donation collections. However, if you would still like to donate to us, you can drop items to us on Sunday between 10am and 1pm in Renfrew and on Monday between 12pm and 3pm in Tradeston.

“If you would like to donate money our PayPal link is always open. This helps pay for dry cleaning of garments, wedding licenses and other items we may need to purchase.”
