Buds in Bootcamp gets ready to kick off again
St Mirren’s Charitable Foundation is kicking off the new season with the relaunch of its popular Buds in Bootcamp programme.
The fitness course aims to reduce social isolation and boost self-esteem for people across Renfrewshire.
As lockdown eases the organisation has announced the course will start again on August 17 and they are calling on potential recruits to get in touch.
Gayle Brannigan, chief executive of the St Mirren Charitable Foundation, said the group is perfect for beating isolation,making new pals and getting fit.
She said:“The programme has been really, really successful since we launched it.
“We’ve had people become lifelong friends from it and it has improved the participants health and well-being so much.
“We are looking to get some fresh faces on board this time round to bring a fresh energy, so if you are interested or know someone who might want to take part, please get in touch with us.
“It is the perfect way to make new friends and stay active.”
The course kicks off on August 17 and there are spaces for around 50 people.
Full social distancing protocols will be in place for the fitness group when they meet at the Simple Digital Arena.
She added:“We have changed things slightly this time round to make sure the proper social distancing measures in place, so there won’t be any partnered activities and we have new protocols for coming in and out of the stadium to keep everyone safe.
“The only parts of the stadium people will be in will be the tunnel as they walk through to the pitch -side area.”
The course is run by personal trainer Darren Little who reached the final of BBC Scotland’s Rogue to Wrestler show.
The foundation has been helping community groups, including Paisley’s Star Project, by collecting essential food parcels to families in need.
