Cops launch probe as man, 24, is brutally attacked near school
Paisley cops have launched an attempted murder investigation after a young man was attacked and left in a “serious condition” in hospital. Cops sealed off an area at Stanley Reservoir, near Gleniffer High, after the 24-year-old victim was found with severe injuries.
Detectives last night confirmed they are treating the incident as attempted murder.
The stricken victim was rushed by ambulance to
Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
A police cordon was in place yesterday near the Foxbar school, with a patrol car blocking the pathway to the reservoir, preventing members of the public passing.
CID officers were also seen checking the scene and a full forensic examination of the area was due to take place following the attack, which happened around 9.30pm on Tuesday.
It is understood a gang of youths may have been spotted in the area around the time of the horror assault, but police are keeping an open mind on the motive behind the incident and who might have carried it out.
Detective Inspector Ian Ross, of Paisley CID, is leading the probe and appealed for witnesses to come forward
He said: “We are appealing for the help of the public in tracing those responsible.
“We are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed anything that may help with our investigation to get in touch.
“We would ask anyone with dashcam footage who was in the area at the time to review it and get in touch.”
If you have any information about the attack, call police on 101.
Officers are not ruling out the possibility that a robbery which took place nearby earlier the same night might be linked.
A 49- year- old man was threatened by two thugs as he sat in his car in Waverley Road, Foxbar. They stole cash before making off toward Amochrie Road around 9pm.
