Driver robbed in his car

- DAVID CAMPBELL

A Paisley man was left traumatized after two thugs robbed him as he sat in his car.

The 49-year-old victim was targeted by the mindless pair, who appeared at his window and threatened him.

They stole his wallet and a two figure sum of cash during the robbery, which happened in Waverley Road, Foxbar, around 9pm on Tuesday.

It’s understood the frightened victim was able to scramble clear of the motor as the suspects kicked the door.

He was left uninjured but was “badly shaken” by his ordeal, police said.

The suspects made off towards the footpath at Amochrie Road following the incident.

Officers probing the incident yesterday released descriptions of the two men they are searching for.

The first is described as white, with a heavy build, aged around 40, 5ft 7ins in height, with short light brown hair. He was wearing a dark zip-up top and jeans.

The second man is of medium build, between 40 and 49 years, with thinning hair. He was also around 5ft 7ins tall and was wearing a white or grey T-shirt and jeans.

Detective Constable Malcolm Clark, from Paisley CID, said: “Thankfully, no-one was injured as a result of this incident, but the man was left badly shaken.

“We are looking to trace the men involved and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or two men matching this description in the area at the time, to come forward.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call 101, quoting incident 3545 of September 1, 2020.

Detectives have not ruled out the possibility the robbery could be linked to an attempted murder that took place close by on the same night.

A 24-year-old man was left with serious injuries after he was attacked near Stanley Reservoir at Gleniffer High School a short time later.
