Gang hunted as stab victim left critical

Cops are hunting a gang of youths who stabbed a young man and left him for dead.
The 24-year-old victim remains in a critical condition in hospital following the shocking blade attack at the Stanley Reservoir, in Paisley.
Officers have pinpointed a group of teens they are desperate to quiz over the violent murder bid, which happened around 9.30pm on Tuesday.
It’s understood the group was made up of boys and girls aged between 16 and 18 who were seen in the area around the time the man was knifed.
The scene close to Gleniffer High School, in Foxbar, was sealed off to members of the public throughout Wednesday as specialists officers carried out a forensic sweep of the area.
Detectives were yesterday scouring more CCTV footage in a bid to identify the suspects and appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Inspector Ian Ross, from Paisley CID, is leading the investigation.
He said: “The victim remains in a critical, but stable condition in hospital following the despicable attack on him.
“During our extensive enquiries we have carried out so far, we have identified a group of youths seen in the area around the time of the incident who we are very keen to speak to.
“We believe the group was made up of males and females aged between 16 and 18.
“I would ask anyone who may have observed this group to get in touch with officers.”
He added: “I’d also ask parents with children around this age and who live in the area to ask them if they have any information that may be useful to our investigation.”
The Express understands detectives are not linking the attack to a robbery that took place a short distance away in Waverly Road the same night.
A 49- year- old man was threatened by two thugs while he sat in his car around 9pm. They then stole his wallet and cash before making off.
That investigation is also ongoing.
