Artists are thrilled to brush up on their skills

It’s back to work at Made in Paisley

-

Buddies young and old are picking up their paint brushes again as art classes resume at Made in Paisley.

The studio, operated by Caroline Gormley and Sandy Guy, has been reopened following a near six-month lockdown.

And the artists, who teach both children and adult classes at the High Street base, say they couldn’t be happier to reopen the doors to students keen to immerse themselves in new projects.

“It has been lovely to welcome everyone back.” Caroline said.

“The students are getting two hours to completely focus on what they are doing.

“They are not thinking about coronavirus or household bills, but something that they want to do that gives them pleasure.

“It gives them something for themselves.”

While the classes provide an opportunity to switch-off from everyday stresses, the pandemic has dictated a new way of working in the studio, with all students given their own brushes and materials which are held in incubation until they return the following week.

Caroline said: “We don’t take any more than ten people in our classes and we have a big space so we can accommodate the two-metre social distancing .

“Everyone also gets their temperature checked and sanitise their hands when they come in and, if they get up from their station, they have to put a face mask on.“

She added: “Despite all of this, the kids still have a good laugh. It’s amazing how they have adapted.“
