Teenager robbed at knifepoint

A frightened teenager was robbed of his bike at knifepoint by two thugs.

The 17- year- old boy was pushing his bicycle along Bridge of Weir Road in Linwood when he was pounced on by two yobs.

One of the suspects pulled a blade on the terrified young victim and demanded he hand over the bike during the incident, which happened around 4.15pm on Sunday.

Cops are now probing the shocking robbery and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The victim is said to have been unhurt but left badly shaken by his ordeal.

Inspector Alan O’Hare, from Johnstone, Renfrew and the villages community policing teams, said an investigat­ion is underway and asked anyone with informatio­n to come forward.

He said: “A 17- year- old by was approached by two

males in Bridge of Weir Road, Linwood around 4.15pm on Sunday.

“Thereafter one of the males produced a weapon and demanded the victim hand over his bike.

“The suspects then made off and the police were contacted

“We are carrying out a range of enquiries in the area, including checking CCTV. We would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward to police.”

He added: “Similarly if you were driving in the area around the time, I’d urge you to check dashcam footage to see if you captured anything which maybe useful to our investigat­ion.”

A Po l i c e S c o t l a n d spokesman said a 33-yearold man has been arrested for alleged robbery and offensive weapon offences.

Meanwhile, cops are investigat­ing a break- in at Soho Salon in Inchinnan Road, Renfrew over night between Saturday and Sunday.

A crook broke a glass panel before ransacking the place a stealing the till.

Inspector O’Hare added: “If anyone has informatio­n in relation to this incident please come forward to police.”
