Sexuality threats

-

An abusive yob sparked terror for a teenager when he began hounding them with threats over their sexuality.

Connor Drummond, 20, targeted the 16-year-old youngster at a home operated by Kibble Education bosses in the town’s Love Street.

Yesterday, Paisley Sheriff Court heard Drummond, who was formerly in care himself at Kibble but has since moved away from the area, showed up outside the supported accommodation.

He started shouting and bawling hateful slurs at the teenager, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, on July 23 last year.

Procuator Fiscal Depute Callum Forsyth said:“At the time of this offence the complainer is 16 years old and the locus is outside Kibble accommodation.

“The accommodation is a home for young people based in Love Street, Paisley, and is only a short distance from the court.

“Members of staff and the complainer became aware the accused who was outside the home shouting and bawling.

“The complainer was upset by the presence of the accused and wanted him to go away. They said they wanted him to leave.

“The accused shouted towards the complainer, ‘You are a pre-sexual lesbian,’and‘A wee boy p***.’

“He also shouted‘You should slit your wrists.’

“The complainer returned to their room and the matter was reported to police.”

Drummond, who since left the Paisley area, and is now living in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, was not in court when the case against him called.

However his defence agent confirmed he was pleading guilty to a charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm in that he shouted, swore and uttered offensive and homophobic remarks at the youngster, as well acting aggressively at the home.

The lawyer said:“Clearly, he is a troubled young man who has issues with alcohol. He is currently under a Community Payback Order.”

Sheriff Tom McCartney called for background reports before deciding what sentence the court will impose on Drummond.

He said:“I will defer sentence until November 11 and the accused will be ordained to appear.”
