Charity ready to serve again

-

Charity bosses at Meal Makers have announced they are back in business from next week.

The lifeline service, which has talented volunteers across Renfrewshire ready to cook up delights for those aged 55 and over, will be restoring their vital work from Monday.

The project workers, who are part of Food Train, said they“are absolutely delighted”to confirm they are“carefully and cautiously reintroducing the face to face, social befriending aspect of our service.”

From Monday, cooks will be permitted to visit diners inside their home when delivering meals.

Volunteers will be asked to wash their hands when they arrive at the home of the diner they are visiting and again once they leave.

And importantly volunteers must try to remain two metres apart from the member they are visiting.

A spokesman added:“Volunteers will be asked to keep any contact touching surface to a minimum, avoiding use the toilet in the member’s home if possible, but if necessary, making sure surfaces and hands are washed after.”

Charity workers will also ensure the food containers they are using have been wiped clean before use and encourage the older member to wash their hands if they are having contact with the food container.

Bosses added as lockdown restrictions ease, they are making a fresh appeal for new diners, aged 55+ across all areas, however, they are particularly looking for people in the Johnstone PA5 and Kilbarchan PA10 postcode areas of Renfrewshire.
