Social worker abuse sparks jail warning
A violent yob has been given a final warning after shouting and swearing at social workers.
Kyle Fisher, 27, was put under the watchful eye of the council workers as part of his punishment for smashing a Buckfast bottle over his girlfriend’s head during a drunken rampage.
But Paisley Sheriff Court heard dad-offour, whose partner Nicola McBride is now expecting their fifth child, has landed in court again after abusing staff tasked with making sure he complies with court-ordered supervision.
Fisher, of Renfrew, appeared in the dock before Sheriff Sukhwinder Gill for a review of his conduct where it emerged he has been mouthing off and refusing to attend appointments.
Defence agent James Arrol said his client was “lucky not to have found himself in breach of the order”.
He said: “Clearly, he has issues stemming from his alcohol consumption.
“This probably is the root of his offending. “For the most part, he has managed to cooperate, engage and comply.
“However, there are a couple of concerning matters.
“Particularly, one matter on April 6, and understanding what he did, he would like to apologise to the court for this.”
Mr Arrol urged the court to spare his client custody by handing him a “conduct requirement” that he stays off the drink.
He added: “There has been superficial engagement because of his alcohol consumption.
“When sober, he understands it is the problem. But, when he drinks, it becomes the problem.”
Fisher attacked Ms McBride after staggering into the house and struck her so hard with the tonic wine bottle, it shattered.
It left the top her head reddened and swollen, however she declined hospital treatment following attack.
He pleaded guilty to striking Ms McBride on the head with a glass bottle during the rammy on August 4, 2019.
He was handed a Community Payback Order lasting 18 months, comprising supervision and requiring he perform 180 hours within nine months, as an alternative to custody.
Sheriff Gill told him: “I placed you on this order as an alternative to custody.
“I took the view your partner wanted you back. You have four children and a fifth on the way.
“So I gave you a chance, but you are not doing what you are supposed to be doing.
“If I get one more report about you being abusive towards social workers and those supervising you, you are going to jail.
“This is your final warning.”
He was also ordered to attend alcohol and addiction services meetings.
Fisher will appear back at court on June 22 for a further review of his behaviour.
