Man arrested in connection with grim discovery
Police sealed off a block of flats in Renfrew after the body of a young woman was discovered inside.
Detectives are treating the death of 34- year- old Lauren Wilson as “unexplained”.
Emergency crews raced to the town’s Cardon Square at around 11.45pm on Wednesday night.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, sparking a major police probe.
Shocked neighbours revealed the area was quickly filled with police and paramedics following the grim discovery.
One man, who asked not to be named, said: “We didn’t hear anything at the time, but there were loads of police cars and paramedics in the car park. We only knew her to say hello to really, but she seemed nice. “It’s a shame, really sad.
“The police came to the door to see if we knew anything.”
A 39- year- old man has been
arrested in connection with the incident.
Officers probing her death yesterday sealed off a full block of Clydeside flats only allowing residents in and out.
Cops in full white coveralls were also seen coming out of the property.
Detectives also appeared to have an interest in a small red car parked in Lapwing Drive about a quarter of a mile from the scene.
The motor was taped off and officers stood guarding it.
Plain clothed officers carried out door to door enquiries and scoured nearby streets for CCTV opportunities.
Another neighbour added: “We saw all the police there and then in the morning, so we knew it must be serious.
“But this is a quiet bit, everyone keeps themselves to themselves.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Officers in Renfrew attended at an address in Cardon Square around 11.45pm on Wednesday, May 26. A 34-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
“Enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding her death, which is currently being treated as unexplained, are ongoing.”
