Three men accused of assault

Three men have been arrested after they were allegedly involved in a violent rammy in Paisley town centre.

It’s claimed a 35-year-old man was battered about the head by two men in the town’s Gauze Street on Thursday night.

Police were called to reports of a disturbanc­e at around 7.30pm.

Cops said a 35-year-old man was targeted by two other men during the incident.

He was punched in the head and face and sustained minor injuries in the onslaught.

He was treated at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and later released.

One of his alleged attackers is said to have been armed with a piece of metal at the time.

Another man who witnessed the incident unfold allegedly leapt from his car and chased the two men away while armed with a metal pole, it’s been claimed.

A Police Scotland spokeswoma­n said:“Police were called to reports of a disturbanc­e in Gauze Street, Paisley at around 7.30pm on Thursday.

“A 35-year-old man sustained facial injuries as a result of an alleged assault.

“We can confirm three men aged, 29, 36 and 38 have been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged incident and a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”

Meanwhile police are investigat­ing a disturbanc­e at a store in Paisley.

Two yobs kicked off in the Nisa store in Mossvale Lane at around 7.40am on Thursday.

The suspects are described as white males, both around 5ft 7ins tall, with short fair hair and slim build.

One was in his 40s and the other was in his 50s.

There were no reports of any injuries. A Police Scotland spokesman added: “If you witnessed a disturbanc­e within the Nisa shop in Mossvale Lane at around 7.40am on Thursday or have informatio­n in relation to what happened, please contact police.”
