Moo-sic to our ears

- ALISON RENNIE

These wee ones are loving moo-ving along to the music at their special class.

Moo Music is a music and sensory class for under-fives run across Renfrewshire by Leisa Callaghan and Laura McGarry.

Now that restrictions have started to lift, parents and their children have started to go back to the sessions in person rather than online classes.

Leisa said it’s been good for children and their parents to be back in person.

“It ’ s been bri l l i a nt , absolutely fantastic to be back to some kind of normality.

“We don’t wear masks when we’re at our mats as everyone is two metres apart.

“The children need to see their parents’ expressions, so that’s important.

“A lot of parents are firsttimers who had their baby during lockdown, so it’s important for them to get out as well.

“Getting our regulars back has probably been the hardest part. I’d say it’s taken the majority of the children about four to five weeks to get back to normal, come away from mum and join in the middle.

“It’s been hard going for them. Before the pandemic, we ran about eight classes a week between us. Now our numbers are smaller at each class, but demand is really high, so we’re running about 33 classes a week.”

T h e Moo Mu s i c Renfrewshire classes run in Linwood, Houston, Bishopton, Renfrew, Johnstone and Erskine.

There is currently a waiting list, but anyone interested in finding out more can go to moo- music. co. uk/ areas/ renfrewshire
