Hotel plunge thug ordered to pay £14k for attacking workers after Scotland clash

- JAMIE MCKENZIE

A Tartan Army thug who fell from a hotel window before assaulting emergency workers after the Scotland v England clash at Wembley has been ordered to pay over £14,600 in compensation.

Ross Ferris, from Erskine, hit the headlines in June after plunging from the fourth floor of the Corus hotel in Lancaster Gate, central London after a cocaine-induced psychotic episode.

The young dad is understood to have suffered injuries to his hand while two emergency workers were hurt during the incident which led to cops discharging a stun gun.

Ferris, 27, previously pleaded guilty to two counts of assault on an emergency worker when he appeared at Southwark Crown Court in London in August.

A court spokesperson confirmed that Ferris appeared in court on Monday to be handed a six month prison sentence suspended for two years, and was told he would have to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.

Ferris was previously prosecuted for biting a female police officer on the arm during a drug-fuelled assault in November 2019.

He punctured the skin of PC Alison Laughlan’s after sinking his teeth into her forearm causing bleeding and severe bruising.

She was forced to get the wound cleaned at hospital following the savage attack and faced an anxious three week wait for results for any blood-borne infections.

Officers were initially called to his parents home following concerns about his behaviour before he answered the door in just a towel. He ended up running down the street naked before being tackled by officers.

Ferris, who now lives in Fife, was among thousands of Scotland supporters who made the journey south for the Euro 2020 clash in London on June 18.
