High five for adventure loving hospice heroes

Brave teams take on Peak District trek for St Vincent’s

- CARLA TALBOT

Two teams from Taylor Wimpey West Scotland took part in a tough hiking challenge through the Peak District to raise more than £5,000 for a much-loved Howwood hospice.

The determined crews from the housing developer - Ladies and the Tramps, along with The West Wildings - collected an incredible £5,875, which they have donated to St Vincent’s Hospice.

They proudly wore T-shirts from the hospice throughout their gruelling two-day challenge which saw them build their own shelter before trekking 26 miles through the incredible mountains of the Peak District.

The hospice in Midton Road aims to provide access to the best possible care and support to everyone living with a life-limiting illness in the local community.

Siobhan Anderson, from Taylor Wimpey West Scotland and member of the Ladies and the

Tramps team, said: “Without a doubt, this was one of the toughest Taylor Wimpey Challenges so far, but the sense of team spirit in both of our teams from West Scotland was incredible from beginning to end.

“It’s been a real test of endurance and teamwork, but the money we have raised for St Vincent’s Hospice has made it all so worthwhile.

“It’s always fantastic to see so many colleagues getting into the spirit of this event and having fun, all while raising much-needed funds for really worthy causes.”

Louise Strachan, from the hospice, added: “We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support that we receive from Taylor Wimpey, and we can’t thank the teams enough for taking part in this very tough challenge.

“We rely on voluntary donations and fundraising efforts from people all across the community every single year to generate more than half of the funding we need to ensure we are here for patients and families when they need us most.

“This support from Taylor Wimpey will make such an incredible difference to countless people going through some of the most difficult times of their lives.

“From all of us at St Vincent’s, thank you.”

Taylor Wimpey will be continuing to support St Vincent’s Hospice when their sales manager Alison McPhee takes to the floor as a contestant in its annual Strictly

Come Prancing event on March 4 at Ingliston Country Club and Hotel, in Bishopton.
