Focusing on getting drugs off the streets

-

Officers in Renfrewshire have been busy again over the last two weeks taking drugs off the streets and tackling dealers.

In the early hours of Saturday, October 2, police officers drove past a vehicle in the Phoenix Retail Park, Paisley.

Detecting a strong smell of cannabis, they stopped the vehicle and the driver was detained under Misuse of Drugs Act for the purpose of a search, recovering several individual bags of cannabis and a large quantity of money.

The driver was arrested, interviewed and charged with being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs.

On Thursday, October 14, officers attended an address at Tannahill Terrace, Paisley, with a search warrant under Misuse of Drugs 1971.

On entry to the property a search was conducted with a large quantity of cocaine recovered within.

Two adults, one male and female, both were charged with drug supply.

On Tuesday, October 12, in Glasgow Road, Paisley, reports from concerned members of the public of a male in possession of weapon.

Officers attended and a male aged 37 was quickly secured having been observed in possession of a golf club and having no reasonable excuse for having same, was arrested to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court at a later date.

At the start of October we attended two incidents in Rashieburn and Hopeman, Erskine where wheelie bins had been moved from properties and set on fire causing damage.

Good old fashioned enquiry carried out by carried by local CPT officers in Renfrew led to a 15-year-old being charged for both wilful fire raisings.

We will continue to work with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and on preventive approaches, tailored particularly toward the run into Bonfire Night.
