Don’t miss your chance for a say on projects
Residents are being urged not to miss their chance to inspire new infrastructure projects in their area.
The move comes as part of Renfrewshire Council’s #YouDecide campaign, which gives communities their say over a £1.2 million funding pot.
They are being asked to submit their ideas for infrastructure projects such as road safety initiatives, new walking or cycling routes, outdoor gyms or other projects which they feel will make their area a better place to live, work and visit.
It comes as the authority looks to divvy up the sum from the Environment and Infrastructure budget and stick to a pledge to empower communities through the move - the first such Community Choices initiative undertaken.
Councillor Michelle Campbell, depute convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board, said:“We want to involve our communities in decision making around how we spend our budget as there is no substitute for local knowledge.
“We want to continue to work closely with our communities so please put forward your ideas before the deadline and tell us how we can make a positive difference to your neighbourhood.”
She added:“We’ve had a fantastic number of ideas already and I know we will see a real difference in Renfrewshire when you choose the projects you want to see completed and the council carries out the work.”
Council officers will carry out a feasibility study after suggestions are in and a shortlist of viable projects will be offered up for a public vote early next year.
But the November 14 deadline is looming for suggestions, which can be submitted via post boxes in libraries, leisure centres and Morrisons supermarkets across Renfrewshire, as well as online at: www. renfrewshire.gov.uk/ YouDecide
