Praise for Karen at AGM
Shopmobility Paisley and District held its Annual General Meeting this week via Zoom.
As with many charities, Shopmobility has had to adapt to the challenges brought about by the Covid -19 pandemic and this was reflected in the discussion at the AGM.
Richard Vassie, chair of Shopmobility Paisley and District, said: “The last year has certainly been challenging, with the continuing covid pandemic impacting on the services we normally provide.
“During some of the lockdown periods, we’ve been unable to operate, but we were still working in the background, submitting successful funding requests, increasing training for all the directors and generally planning ahead to make sure we can provide a great service to all our members.
“I would like to especially thank our office manager, Karen Miller, who has not only managed to keep the organisation going, but has been successful in bringing in new funding for the organisation.
“I would also like to thank Tania Morlan at Invest in Renfrewshire for the support she has shown us, especially in helping us get two new temporary staff members to help Karen.
“Shopmobility Paisley and District relies on the hard work of our staff and volunteers and we all have a common aim of breaking down the social barriers due to lack of mobility.”
Councillor Kenny MacLaren added: “Although I only joined Shopmobility Paisley and District a couple of years ago, I have always been impressed by the determination of everyone involved, ensuring that we provide the best service that we can to our members.
“This year we will be focussing on expanding not only our volunteer base, but also our pool of volunteer directors.
“In doing this we want to build up the resilience within the organisation and make sure we continue in our journey towards making Shopmobility a social enterprise.”
