CAB Support still available for covid isolation
I caught covid a couple of days ago and have to self-isolate, so I can’t work. I’m a single parent and already struggling financially. Does the council still give you a payment?
It sounds as though you are referring to the self-isolation support grant.
The self-isolation support grant is a payment of £500 paid to those on a low income who will lose income as a result of having to self-isolate.
There’s a number of eligibility criteria that have to be met, including the requirement to have confirmation of a positive PCR test, being on a low income and receiving a qualify benefit.
You can apply using your MyAccount or you can contact the council’s Advice Works 0300 300 1238 for more information on eligibility criteria.
You can also contact the Bureau on 0141 889 2121 for advice on your financial circumstances. We can make sure you are receiving all the support you are entitled to
I’m going to be made redundant in just under a month, what kind of help is available to help me find a new job?
If you’re being made redundant, it’s sensible to prepare as best as you can before this happens.
Partnership Action for Continuing Employment (PACE) is a Scottish Government initiative that can help people facing redundancy.
PACE can assist you in looking for alternative employment, updating your CV and even preparing for interviews. You can get in contact with PACE by calling 0800 917 8000.
If you are considering a career change, you can get advice from Skills Development Scotland’s My World of Work.
They can give you advice if you want to gain new qualifications or start your own business. They can also give you information on any help you may receive paying for training or qualifications. You can find out more by visiting www. myworldofwork.co.uk
I parked in town the other day and got a parking ticket from the council. I had a ticket and was back before it expired, how do I appeal this?
If you don’t agree that you parked illegally, you can appeal against the penalty charge notice to Renfrewshire Council.
Your penalty notice should tell you how to appeal and any relevant deadlines.
Once you submit an appeal, the council will consider your case and will either accept your appeal and cancel your penalty, or reject your appeal.
If your appeal is rejected, the council must send you a ‘notice of rejection.’ This letter will detail how you can make a further appeal to the General Regulatory Chamber.
If you need assistance with your appeal, please get in contact with the Bureau by calling 0141 889 2121 or emailing us at ren-bureau@ paisleycab.casonline.org.uk
