New homes will be ready by end of summer
The developer of a Barrhead brownfield site has revealed all 35 homes will be finished by the end of the summer.
AS Homes (Scotland) is constructing the properties on behalf of Barrhead Housing Association (BHA) and Briar Homes.
The Scottish Government provided BHA with grant funding of more than £646,000 to deliver the homes.
The development at Dealston Road includes a mixture of two, three and four-bedroom homes for sale and for affordable rent.
BHA’s tenants will be able to move into the new homes first.
They feature energy efficient heating systems, high insulation standards and PPV solar panels to help reduce energy consumption.
The 35 homes are built around a landscaped green space.
BHA’s chief executive Lorna Wilson said: “With the previous building demolished some time ago, it is fantastic to see the land at last being put to good use.
“There is a huge need for social housing across East Renfrewshire, including Barrhead.
“The range of homes being delivered here at Eden Grove demonstrates the commitment to increasing the availability of affordable homes in the Barrhead area.
“It has been good to be on site once more to see good work being carried out by our partners, AS Homes.”
Phil Daws, head of environment from East Renfrewshire Council, added: “East Renfrewshire Housing Services are delighted to support this development as part of the council’s priority for the provision of good quality, affordable housing for our residents.”
AS Homes managing director, Paul Kelly, said: “I am delighted to see that Eden Grove is progressing well.
“The project, alongside a further 27 homes for Briar Homes that are also being created, is bringing muchneeded, highly energy-efficient homes to East Renfrewshire and we look forward to welcoming the new residents this summer.”
