A Renfrewshire charity that cares for vulnerable children, adults and their families has been given a prestigious award.

Quarriers has been awarded two Investors in People (IIP) accreditations for its sustained investment in the development and well-being of its staff.

The award is the highest level that can be achieved by an employer and puts Quarriers in the one per cent of IIP registered companies across the UK with the accolade.

The internationally-recognised awards, which require companies to apply for re-accreditation every three years to ensure continual professional development, are seen as the global benchmark in people management and staff investment.

Quarriers, which is based near Bridge of Weir, runs over 100 services across Scotland.

Its staff support adults and children with disabilities, young people facing homelessness, families facing poverty, unpaid carers and people affected by epilepsy.

Alistair Dickson, director of people and technology for Quarriers, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have retained our Platinum IIP accreditation and to have secured an additional silver accreditation, despite

working in incredibly challenging circumstances over the last two years.

“This is a real testament to the passion, hard work and dedication of our people and my sincere thanks go out to each and every member of the team for their contribution to this outstanding achievement.

“Whilst we are delighted to be where we are, there is always more we can do in terms of employee engagement and recognition, and continued investment in everything from individual career pathways to qualifications.

“Our platinum status is more than a plaque, it’s our promise to ensure that investment in our people and their wellbeing, is at the heart of our entire organisational strategy.”

The IIP Platinum Status, first achieved by Quarriers in 2018, has been retained and will remain so until 2025.

The health and social care charity also achieved a silver accreditation in recognition of its investment in health and wellbeing.

The accreditations were awarded following a rigorous, independent and external assessment process by IIP, with over 220 Quarriers staff interviewed on two separate occasions over a nine-month period, the vast majority of whom were frontline care workers.
