More than £38,000 of drugs and cash were seized after cops swooped in on properties in Paisley.

Drug squad officers carried out early morning raids on properties in Foxbar and Glenburn on Thursday, recovering the haul of herbal cannabis, alongside £2,000 in cash.

The busts - which followed other significant operations last week were carried out by officers from the force’s Alcohol and Violence Reduction Unit and Paisley’s community policing team

Extensive searches were carried out on both properties where they uncovered a large quantity of a substance, believed to be the Class-B drug, as well as thousands of pounds in cash.

The Class-B drugs recovered have been sent away for testing and are understood to have a total street value of £38,000.

Detective Chief Inspector Gerry McBride, of Paisley CID said: “This drugs recovery demonstrates Police Scotland’s ongoing commitment to disrupt the illegal and harmful supply of drugs in Renfrewshire. We will continue to use every tool and tactic available to us to pro-actively target individuals who profit from their supply. “

We continue to work closely with partners across Renfrewshire to reduce the harm caused by substance abuse in our communities. Police Scotland confirmed a man and woman had been arrested and charged in connection with drugs supply offences.

The most recent raid comes just days after police recovered £26,000 of heroin at multiple addresses in Paisley last week.

Cops swooped in on six locations across Paisley and uncovered the Class-A drug, as well as hundreds of pounds in cash.

Cannabis with a street value of £1,000 was also seized by police.
