Mark O’Hara insists his hurting Buddies won’t dwell on their incredible home run coming to an end.
Instead, they’re already fully focused on starting a new one when they next return to the SMiSA Stadium.
The Saints couldn’t make it 13 without defeat in a row on home soil on Saturday, with Hibs’ Elie Youan netting the only goal to take all three points back to Edinburgh.
O’Hara described the match as a “battle” due to the windy conditions, which caused both sides huge problems as they struggled to keep the ball under control throughout.
But O’Hara firmly believes his side will steady themselves and bounce back, having made the SMiSA a fortress so far this season.
O’Hara told Express Sport: “It’s disappointing to let our home record go. It was going to happen at some point, but it’s still a bad feeling.
“We’ve got the chance to put it right in the coming weeks. We can start a new run now, that’s the task the manager has given us.
“The conditions were very difficult, it was more of a battle.
“I think we were a wee bit off it from how we have usually been at home this season. It was a bit of quality that won it.
“That first half, the wind was right on our goal.
“We were kind of stuck in right at the start and in the second half it changed course a bit and didn’t really go for us.
“We’ve got in-house targets and we’ve come a long way this season.
“We’ve got a good run of games where we can try and get maximum points.
“It’s important that we bounce back and stay on track because we’ve got a big run of games coming up in the league.”
The Saints will have to wait for the chance to start a new unbeaten run at home, with a challenging trip to Celtic Park up next in the Scottish Cup.
While accepting they’re big underdogs, O’Hara insists his Buddies remain hopeful they can pull off a huge upset in Glasgow, having already toppled Ange
Postecoglou’s side once this season.
O’Hara said: “Most people won’t give us a chance, but we’ve beat them already this season.
“We’ll be hopeful we can get a result. We lost there recently, but I was injured for that game. I watched it and things could’ve been different.
“If Curtis Main’s early goal had stood, then it could have been a different game altogether.
“But we are well aware of their qualities and we know it will be a tough game against them.”
