Charity funds boost as housing developer edges closer to target

- TAYLOR MURRAY

A Paisley charity has been given a £3,000 boost thanks to a heartfelt pledge from one of the UK’s leading housebuilders.

Taylor Wimpey has handed over the bumper amount to ACCORD Hospice after previously committing to make a donation for every home sold at its new development site in Hawkhead Gardens.

Bosses at the housing firm chave been donating £25 to ACCORD for each home that was sold as they look to increase their overall donations.

£1,000 was donated by Taylor Wimpey West Scotland to the charity this month, taking their overall donation to date to £3,300 which is edging closer towards the total sum of £5,250 that will be paid to the charity.

Since this project launched in 2019, this latest donation recognises a long-term relationship between Taylor Wimpey West Scotland and the ACCORD Hospice, which is located within just a few minutes of the Hawkhead Gardens development.

The money will contribute towards the hospice’s ongoing mission to provide palliative and end-oflife care to people living with or affected by a life-limiting illness in Renfrewshire and parts of East Renfrewshire.

Audrey Ross, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be able to support the ACCORD Hospice.

“Our donations to date of £3,300 reflect our ongoing relationship with this essential local charity and service that provides a link between our new community at Hawkhead Gardens and the existing community of Paisley.”

They added: “Working with the ACCORD Hospice is a real honour and we are extremely proud to be showing our support in this way.

“Being able to work with local charities and organisations that surround our developments means a great deal to us, and it’s always lovely to know that we are helping to make a difference to the lives of people in our local communities.”

The company’s donation to ACCORD is one of the many contributions being made by the housebuilder towards community facilities and infrastructure in the wider area.
