A dad-to-be has been fined after he threatened to“expose” and“ruin”the life of the mother of his unborn child.

Company boss Conor Cook sent a number of vicious and threatening emails to his partner the day after she dumped him.

The 26-year-old admitted at Paisley Sheriff Court that he repeatedly sent threatening emails between January 8 and January 10 with one stating he would “expose everything on social media”.

Cook, of Tannahill Crescent, also sent an email stating, ‘If you ruin my life, I will ruin yours, simple as that’.”

Prosecutor Dana Barclay told the court the woman ended the couple’s relationship on January 7 with Cook’s onslaught of abuse starting the following day.

Ms Barclay explained: “She received an email on January 8 from Cook.

“The emails were extensive, threatening and aimed at her.

“Most of the emails were threats with one stating, ‘Allow me the opportunity or I’ll expose absolutely everything on social media. I’ll prove my innocence on the matter and I promise along the way people will be getting hurt’.

“Emails continued to be received by Cook with another stating, ‘I’ll be showing them the lot of you, that’s for f ***** g sure. I’ll come to your door’.

“Another email stated, ‘I f ***** g dare you to abort that child without my consent. I will go to hell and back and you will all come with me. If you ruin my life, I will ruin yours, simple as that.’

“The messages placed her in a state of fear and alarm and she attended at Paisley police office on January 13 to report the matter.

“Police spoke with her and noted her to be upset and extremely fearful of the accused.

“Cook couldn’t be traced at that time but he attended at Paisley police office on January 15, aware officers wanted to speak to him.

“He was arrested, cautioned and charged and, at that time, he was interviewed where he openly spoke throughout stating that she was pregnant with his child and this was his attempt to put his point across and defend himself.”

Defence agent Rhona Lynch explained that the woman is currently 15 weeks pregnant with Cook’s child and he wishes to “support her” through her pregnancy.

Ms Lynch added how the managing director of his own recruitment business – who lives with his mum – was going “through a difficult time” when the offence occurred, stating: “He has demonstrated remorse and insight into this.

“A positive criminal justice social work report has been prepared. There are no underlying alcohol or drug issues and he wishes to support her moving on from this.”

Sentencing, Sheriff Tom McCartney said: “Threatening a partner or expartner repeatedly in this way is something regarded seriously by the court.”

Sheriff McCartney fined Cook a total of £1,040 and ordered this to be paid at £100 per month.
