How each councillor voted as SNP budget is approved by 23-16
The SNP group in Renfrewshire secured the progress of its budget by winning a vote 23 to 16.
A confidence and supply agreement – essentially a cooperation pact – was signed between the minority administration and Councillor Andy Doig following the May election, practically guaranteeing the independent member’s backing.
But the motion also received the approval of Liberal Democrat councillor Anne Hannigan.
Finance convener John Shaw confirmed a council tax hike of six per cent and the rollout of a £40 garden waste permit scheme, as well as a series of spending commitments covering roads, winter clothing payments and play parks.
Labour brought forward an amendment, which suggested a five per cent rise instead, plans to spend cash on breakfast clubs for all school children, additional support needs investment and money on pothole repairs.
