Girlfriend hadher phone stolen outside hospital

-

A young thug stole his girlfriend’s phone and smashed the window of a Corsa while she was inside the car.

Cameron Evans stole his girlfriend’s phone in November last year at Erskine Hospital in McCallum Way.

The 18-year-old bully then went on to “repeatedly kick and strike a window” of a Vauxhall Corsa while his girlfriend was sitting inside it alongside a female friend and a male friend.

Evans struck the window so hard it caused the window to smash causing the glass to fall inside onto the car’s passengers.

And on May 12 last year, at a property in David Boyle Court in Erskine, Evans caused “fear or alarm” by shouting, swearing, acting in an aggressive manner and by making offensive remarks.

Defence agent Cameron Murdoch told Paisley Sheriff Court how Evans is “ashamed and shows remorse”.

Mr Murdoch told how Evans is now trying to “concentrate on developing his dog walking business, stating: “He works fulltime and he is doing well developing a clientele.

“He understands this was impulsive and lacking consequential thinking.

“He wishes to apologise to all parties and he wishes to reconcile his relationship with his partner involved.”

Sheriff Gillian Craig said: “This was disgraceful conduct. You took Ms McLaren’s phone preventing her from contacting people in a terrifying situation.

“You caused damage to a vehicle that Ms McLaren was in with others, by smashing the window. You were very lucky no further damage or harm was done.

“Don’t be in any doubt these are serious offences and I’m only just persuaded to take a step back from custody so what I impose is a direct alternative.”

Sheriff Craig ordered Evans, of Corkerhill Place, Glasgow, to carry out 170 hours unpaid work in the community.

In addition, Evans was placed under supervision for 12 months with a requirement he undertakes the Caledonia programme which is a programme for domestic offenders.

A review hearing has been set for April 17. Consideration of a non-harassment order was continued until the same date.
