Children’s bookmark competition
To mark World Book Day, Children 1st has launched an exciting new competition for children in Renfrewshire.
Children will have the chance to win a big bundle of books and a supply of bookmarks featuring their own designs.
The competition kicked off on Thursday with kids aged 10 and under across Scotland designing their very own bookmark to showcase their love of reading.
Two runners-up will receive a £15 book voucher each and if a child takes part through their school, teachers could win a £250 book voucher to spend on pupils. Run annually by Children 1st, Scotland’s national children’s charity, and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, the competition is a creative way for children to engage with reading.
Euan Miller, Children 1st interim director of fundraising, said:“We know that stories can be an extremely important part of childhood, developing imaginations as well as helping to create family connections, and Children 1st want to ensure that every child across Scotland has access to the joy of books.”
Kirsty Hill, regional director at The Dollywood Foundation UK, added:
“Dolly believes that if you can read, you can do anything, dream anything, and be anything and by running this competition, we want to share this message with children all over the country.”
The closing date for the competition is Friday, April 14. Three shortlisted designs will be put forward to a public vote on the Children 1st Facebook page. This will take place week commencing Monday, April 17. The winner will then be announced week commencing Monday, May 1.
