Patter’s good but Killoch B claim first point of season

The Paisley Burgh Pool League produced another exciting round of fixtures with a few surprise results popping up across Renfrewshi­re.

Killoch B claimed their first point of the season after a thrilling game against the Patter Bar that ended 6-6 in Neilston.

The Patter Bar found some form after a close start, going 4-2 up. That only sparked the Killoch side’s fire, with the team rattling off four frames in a row to take the lead and guarantee themselves at least a draw.

The Patter Bar dug in to salvage a point though, winning the last two frames with some fine potting.

Pockets A’s clash with The Horseshoe ended with a 7-3 win for the away side. Pockets went ahead early before The Horseshoe took frames two, three and four to go ahead.

Stevie Smith potted well to pull a frame back for Pockets, but in the end The Horseshoe claimed the win and the points by sealing the first two doubles frames – keeping their unbeaten season record intact in the process.

Sammi’s meeting with Hazel went frame for frame until the seventh when Hazel seized the advantage through Robert Gibson.

Sammi’s threatened a fightback by winning the next frame but The Hazel dominated the doubles and won 7-3 to leapfrog Pockets A and move into fifth spot.

Lilybank sealed an impressive 7-2 home win against Jaybees. The away side found themselves down 6-0 before they managed to put a frame on the board. On a comfortabl­e night the Lilybank fully deserved the win, pushing Jaybees further down the table.

Hashtag A faced Pockets B looking to keep their winning run going. The hosts were tested by a good Pockets side but eventually ran out 7-4 winners to stay top of the table.

Pockets fought hard but couldn’t keep up with the in-form side in the end.

Red Fox’s exciting match with Hashtag B went all the way to the deciding frame.

The Red Fox went 3-1 up after Amanda Kerr put her team up by two frames before Barry Curry pulled one back for the away team.

The teams couldn’t be separated after the singles, with the Hashtag claiming the first two doubles frames to give them a chance of winning.

And they took their chance in the 12th frame to seal a thrilling 7-5 victory.

Spateston suffered a painful 7-2 home defeat at the hands of Clippens B.

The Linwood side started strong and continued throughout to pick up an impressive win that moves them up the league table.

Clippens A handed Pockets C their third defeat in as many weeks by claiming an excellent 7-4 win.

The Clippens were crusing at 4-1 before Stevie Robertson and Willie McDade threatened a comeback for Pockets.

However, the Clippens held their nerve in the end to keep the points at home.

The last game of the week saw St Peters take on Killoch A in Glenburn.

The in-form away team bagged an emphatic 7-2 win, their third victory on the spin, to move within one point of seventh place.
