“Stuart was a much loved character by all at the Craig Dhu and he’ll be sorely missed.

“Our thoughts are with Stuart’s family and friends at this sad time.”

Many of his friends also took to social media to express their shock and grief at loss of such a young man.

One wrote on Facebook: “Lovely guy, very popular young man.

“Everyone at his beloved Paisley Golf Club are devastated. Never heard anyone say a bad word about Stu. Thoughts and prayers with family and friends.”

A sentiment echoed by many, another man described Stuart as “the nicest guy ever”.

He said: “Our hearts are broken as he will no longer be with us.

“Our enquiries are still ongoing and we are keen to trace the drivers of a red Ford Fiesta, and a silver-coloured estate car, possibly a taxi, who might have witnessed the crash.

“I would also ask anyone with any dash cam footage or private CCTV which may assist us to contact us.”
