Buying decision
There are other good things about this phone. Having 32GB of storage and a microSD slot – which doubles as a nano-SIM slot in addition to the micro-SIM – is good to see in a phone at this price. There’s NFC and Android Pay support, and it has a loud, clear speaker too – a nice touch for those who use their phone for voice conferences.
But then we come to the OS. With Cyanogen having closed its development doors, it’s no surprise that Wileyfox has promised to move all its current phones to Android 7 Nougat in the first quarter of 2017. For the moment, though, it’s shipping with an OS that’s no longer officially supported. Even with the promise of support staff within Wileyfox who can handle Cyanogen queries, that’s not a great situation.
Even if it had the latest version of Android, though, I couldn’t recommend the Wileyfox Swift 2 X. If you’re looking for a stylish metal design then the Honor 6X is the obvious choice; if camera quality is more important, it pales in comparison with the Moto G4 Plus.
And if money is really tight, there’s the plain Moto G4. For around £160 you still get strong performance, a fine camera and 13-hour battery life.
