PHONE SILENCERS

3 applets

-

Let’s start with the basics – applets that stop you getting disturbed by pinging notifications in the middle of the night, or while you’re in important meetings at work. Unfortunately, IFTTT can only be used to control Android phones – iOS’s phone functionality is strictly locked down by Apple, denying third-party apps the ability to perform tasks such as mute/unmute the handset, log calls or access text messages.

To silence your phone during the twilight hours and switch the ringer back on again in the morning, you will need two separate applets:

To mute the phone at bedtime: pcpro. link/273mute.

To unmute your phone in the

morning: pcpro. link/273unmute.

If you click on the settings cog on both applets, you’ll find options to adjust both your bedtime and the time you want the phone to wake up again, both rather awkwardly broken down into hours and minutes. The wake-up applet also lets you set the ringer volume as a percentage, for those who don’t like to be awakened by a 100% ringtone blast early in the morning. Note, even on silent, any alarm set on your phone should still work.

What about preventing the constant chirping of Twitter or personal phone calls while you’re in meetings? The following applet will silence your phone whenever there’s an appointment in your Google Calendar: pcpro. link/273silence.

The downside to this applet is that you’ll need to remember to unmute your phone manually after the meeting has finished.
