We asked you how much time you spent on social media. Admittedly, our tool for doing this was social media. This is what you said:

PC Pro and Alphr.com readers seem to have the balance about right, with only 36% unhappy that they’re spending too much or too little time on social media.

One anonymous reader advises “pausing the accounts if you want to keep them, logging out, deleting them from your phone and clearing your history”.

Andy Walker would go further, suggesting “remove yourself from Facebook”, and assuring us that it’s “not as hard as you think. In two weeks you’ll have got over the withdrawal­s and realise what a waste of your life it was”.

Samuel Martins offered another tip: “Add a timer on your social media platforms so that you can set how long you can access them in a day.”

Social media may make you feel more connected, but you aren’t enriching your life – you’re just staving off boredom. Think about where you want to be in five years. How will spending your free time on social media help you achieve that goal? Dave Wed

Have a monthly review of who you follow and what you read. Cull anything that’s lost your interest. Make it about quality not quantity Tom Smith

Go and spend time in one of the many places in the UK that has no mobile coverage. We have quite a few where I live on the Devon/Cornwall border. You will appreciate what a beautiful country we live in Terry Montague
