01 ASUS PROART PA148CTV PRIC E Not announced

AVAIL ABLE Not announced

As Vera Lynn so sagely sang, we’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t know when, but I know we’ll be stuck in a hotel room again with a laptop and no way to connect to the 50in TV (you may remember Vera’s precise lyrics differently to us). What you need is a portable monitor to plug in and provide a second screen – and if you demand accurate colours, this 14in panel holds the answer. Quite apart from its promise of superb colour accuracy and coverage (it’s Calman Verified and covers all of the sRGB and Rec.709 gamuts), a dial is built into the rear that allows you to spin through options in the key Adobe Creative Cloud apps.

02 DELL ULTRASHARP 40 PRIC E $2,100 AVAIL ABLE Q2 2021

If you remember the towering 43in Dell UltraSharp U4320Q ( see issue 313, p91) from our recent monitors group test, you’ll know Dell is no stranger to big-screen monitors. This one, however, is different: its 39.7in IPS panel is curved, while packing in a 5,120 x 2,160 resolution that translates into a sharp 140ppi pixel density. As you’d expect for this price, it benefits from all the best kinds of connectivity: Thunderbolt 3, Gigabit Ethernet, a USB hub and an automatic KVM switch. We look forward to seeing if it can deliver on such promising specs.

03 DELL 34IN VIDEO CONFERENCING MONITOR PRIC E $1,150

AVAIL ABLE February 2021

This is a screen that would have surely sold in droves if it had been released in 2020, tailored as it is to our lockdown videoconferencing world. The two highlights here are a 5MP camera – so it should produce sharp images – and a pair of 5W speakers. The camera supports Windows Hello and tucks

away out of view when you need some privacy. The one slight compromise is a 3,440 x 1,440 resolution on the curved 34in IPS panel, but it will still look sharp at normal viewing distances.

04 LENOVO YOGA AIO 7 PRIC E From $1,599 AVAIL ABLE February 2021

All-in-one PCs may be the underdogs of the desktop computer world, but we like them. Everything you need is in one compact form factor, and it’s far more ergonomic than tapping away at a laptop for hours. The AIO 7 looks pleasing thanks to a rotatable hinge for those occasions when only portrait mode will do, and note that this 27in 4K display covers 99% of both the DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB colour spaces. With a Ryzen 4000 Series chip and discrete Nvidia graphics, it also ticks our final box: speed.
