01 TARGUS UV-C LED DISINFECTION LIGHT • PRIC E $299 AVA IL ABLE Spring 2021

What better time to release a virus-killing desk lamp than during a pandemic? Even better, one that promises to put your mouse and keyboard through a five-minute cleaning cycle every hour? There’s just one catch: the UV-C LED Disinfection Light can’t guarantee that it will kill the Covid-19 virus, which rather dampens its appeal. Likewise, the US Food and Drug Administration and our very own Which? have cast doubts over the virus-killing efficacy of UV-C lamps. Buyer beware.

02 HEX HOME • PRIC E $180 AVA IL ABLE Spring 2021

Are you sitting comfortably? Well, don’t move or the Hex Home will detect that someone is in your home and set off a siren (and/or a warning message to your phone). Naturally, it’s far cleverer than that and can even work out if the movement detected is from a pet rather than an intruder – and it does all this using Wi-Fi waves. A command pod and wall-based sensor monitor the shape of the waves and look out for suspicious movement, at which point it fires off that warning. While the company is launching in the US in spring 2021, it isn’t due in the UK until towards the end of this year.

03 MOFLIN • PRIC E Around £400 AVA IL ABLE June 2021

Forget Tamagotchi. What you need is a furry pet that develops its own personality depending on how you – and others in your household – treat him. It’s the size of a small hamster and covered in “warm, soft fur”, so the word “cute” instantly springs to mind. Created as a Kickstarter project by Japanese firm Vanguard Industries, the first shipments are due in June this year and you can now register your interest at shop.vanguard-industries.com.

04 NOOPL PRIC E $199

AVA IL ABLE February 2021

We love everything about the

Noopl, from its cheesy video ( pcpro.link/318noopl) showing how bad hearing could land you in trouble (“Dave thought she said ‘burger’ not ‘merger’”!) to the product itself. Noopl is described as an “advanced hearing enhancement accessory for iPhone”, and it cleverly tracks who you’re looking at using the sensors built into the AirPods Pro earbuds. If Noopl works as well as the video suggests, we’re in.
