01 BIOHEART PRIC E $199

AVAIL ABLE June 2021

The Bioheart’s design may allow you to channel your inner Iron Man, but rather than the Tony Starks of this world it’s actually designed for people with heart conditions. It’s meant to be worn all day to monitor your heart via ECG data and then provide useful information for medical professionals, but it will also track your day-to-day activity such as steps and calories consumed. The Bioheart won’t be released in the UK this year, but the company tells us it hopes to launch in the UK once it passes regulatory hurdles.

02 BINATONE MASKFONE PRIC E $50 AVAIL ABLE Now

There were many Covid-related products announced at CES (search for Razer’s “Project Hazel” concept if you want to see the weirdest take), but Binatone’s MaskFone has the advantage of being immediately available and solving a genuine problem: the downside of thicker and more protective masks is they muffle your voice, but the MaskFone includes a Bluetooth mic inside so you can clearly talk on the phone without removing your mask. Naturally, it includes wireless earbuds so you can hear the other person too.

03 AMAZFIT GTS 2E PRIC E €130

AVAIL ABLE Now

Over the course of several CES shows we’ve been impressed by the quality of Amazfit’s smartwatch designs, and the GTS 2e (along with its round-faced sibling the GTR 2e) is yet another fine example. Despite the low price, it includes an always-on 1.65in AMOLED screen and is curved at the sides for extra style, while featuring SpO2 measurement, 5ATM waterproofing and the ubiquitous heart-rate sensor. Then there are its 90 sports modes and the promise of a 24-day battery life. Even though Amazfit’s software is nowhere near as slick or expandable as rivals such as Apple or Fitbit, both of the new devices look set to be smartwatch hits.
