Welcome to the whimsical world of artist and designer Flora Roberts, who creates breathtaking botanical murals and timeless designs for wallpapers. With a canvas of a single wall to an entire room, Flora transforms surfaces into dreamscapes where wandering flowers spontaneously dance together in oceans of alluring colour. Think the enveloping tranquillity of Monet’s Waterlilies fused with the naive charm of folk art in a signature palette of brights and pastels. A true colourist, Flora finds flowers are the perfect vehicle for indulging her passion for eye-catching combinations and she relishes the freedom that going beyond the frame can bring, following the mantra: ‘imperfection is a nice metaphor for life, isn’t it?’ Yet Flora admits that composition is a balancing act, and while her work exudes effortless elegance, she reveals: ‘it can actually take a lot of planning to make things look spontaneous!’ Beginning her creative journey at Glasgow School of Art, she went on to the Royal College of Art to study printed textiles, before going into bespoke wall murals. Work to date includes designs for companies such as Lewis & Wood, Sanderson and GP & J Baker, and this summer sees the launch of her very first collection with wallpaper specialist Hamilton Weston.
