New appeal for missing Peter (65)

Pastor seen on bus to Perth

Police have issued a fresh appeal to trace missing Perthshire pastor Peter Edwards.

The US clergyman (65) was reported mssing from his Scone home on Tuesday morning and police are growing concerned for his welfare.

Inquiries have since establishe­d Peter was seen getting off the number 7 bus around 7.43am on Tuesday in Glasgow Road, near to the Lovat Hotel. He headed off in the direction of Perth city centre.

A later sighting placed him near Christies Bar that evening. This is being considered by officers.

The Perthshire Advertiser understand­s that police are following up at least one other reported sighting.

He is described as 5ft 9” in height, balding with a grey beard and sideburns and gold rimmed glasses. When last seen he was wearing a long sleeved grey shirt, black tank top jumper, tie, grey trousers Peter spotted getting off bus any informatio­n on his whereabout­s.

“Officers are carrying out door to door enquiries and reviewing CCTV in effort to trace Peter.

“Anyone with informatio­n should contact Police Scotland on 101.”

At the same time the congregati­on at Perth Christian Fellowship Church, where he is an associate pastor, have been praying for his safety.

Mr Edwards helped found the church in the mid-1980s and members have described him as a “popular and caring man”.
