Helping hands for the SCAA
Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance’s mission log for the past week includes an emergency flight to the aid of a collapsed hillwalker in Angus.
The sick patient was helped off the hill by a local landowner to where SCAA had landed at the foot of the slopes. The ill man was then airlifted to Ninewells Hospital at Dundee.
****** SCAA is always indebted to those living in remote and rural Scotland who come to SCAA’s aid in their race against time to reach seriously ill or injured people.
A similar thing happened later in the week when SCAA landed on the rugby pitch at Kenmore to reach a man injured in a fall.
The paramedics were transported to the scene by a local businessman and a land ambulance ferried the patient to the waiting helicopter for airlift to Ninewells Hospital at Dundee.
****** The helicopter air ambulance also responded to an emergency call to the Auchterarder area this week.
One of SCAA’s paramedics travelled in a land ambulance to Perth Royal Infirmary with the patient.
And a SCAA paramedic travelled in the ambulance to Ninewells Hospital after the crew attended a local emergency using the charity’s Rapid Response Vehicle.
****** Generous guests at a recent wedding in Pitlochry made donations to a charity Wishing Well. Six hundred pounds was donated to SCAA.
And a charity day at Strathmore Golf Club in the summer raised £120 for SCAA.
****** Book lovers shopping at Pitlochry Station Bookshop have helped put another £300 into SCAA’s coffers – the latest donation from these life-long supporters.
****** A Balbeggie family has donated £520 to SCAA in memory of a loved one, raised at a recent funeral.
****** And the Scottish Vintage Austin Enthusiasts Club has driven up with a £120 donation after holding a classic car drive out at the weekend.
****** Collecting cans spilling out their contents at SCAA this week include some placed at premises in Perth and Kinross. These include ones from the Little Acorn Café at Methven (£17.83), the Esso services at Broxden (£45.20), Cairn O’Mhor café at Errol (£27.84) and the Spar at Errol (£26.82).
****** The SCAA branded clothes bank situated at Perth Airport has raised a further £34.40 for the charity thanks to people depositing unwanted clothes and textiles there.
****** Look out for SCAA volunteers who will be staging a collection for the air ambulance charity at the House of Bruar throughout the shopping complex’s three-day sale on November 11-13.
****** Staff at the TSB Perth are holding a fundraising Bingo Tea for SCAA in the Robert Douglas Memorial Institute, Scone, this evening (Friday) at 7.30pm. All welcome.
