AGM Abernethy Bowling Club will hold its Annual General Meeting in the clubhouse on Wednesday, November 30. Book your seats now. Horticultural Society The November meeting of the society will take place on Wednesday, November 9 at 7.30pm. The speaker will be Jonathon Davies-Colman recently graduated from Scotland’s Rural College and the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh, who will give a talk on his recent botanical expedition to the hilltop Kingdom of Bhutan. It will take place at the Mason’s Hall, Main Street, Abernethy. Entry fee £2.50 inclusive of refreshments. Church The service on Sunday will be conducted by the Rev Timothy Fletcher at 11am. Next Sunday, November 13, there will be a service in Aberuthven Church, conducted by the Rev James Aitchison at 11.40am, followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the village War Memorial. A piper will be in attendance.

St Serf’s Church The Rev Philip Patterson conducted last Sunday’s Communion service. Bible readings taken from Hebrews 2 and Philippians 3 were given by Irene Hutchison. Alison Hooper was the organist and the church flowers were kindly gifted by Linda MacPherson. This Sunday there will be an Elder led service starting at the usual time of 10am.

Church Morning Worship on Sunday was conducted by Rev Mike Erskine. This Sunday morning worship begins at the usual time of 11am. During term time the Sunday School welcomes children to join us in the front pews of the church each Sunday morning, all welcome. The Guild meets on Thursday, November 3 at 2pm in the Lower Hall. There will be a talk by Jean Campbell on Soroptimists International. A crèche for under threes is available during every Sunday morning service. The Prayer Group meets on Thursdays in Burnside Court Lounge at 10.30am. Choir rehearsal meets every Friday at 6.45pm. New members welcome. The church website www.alythparishchurch.org.uk is updated weekly and contains details of the Family History Project, Kirk news, and lots of photos. Family History Project The project is open in Alyth Parish Church from 2-4pm every Sunday until Remembrance. New photos always welcome, which are copied and returned. Church Sunday’s service was conducted by Rev Bill Whyte who also did the reading. The organist was Jenny Whyte. Rev Whyte spoke on the Epistle of Paul to his friend Philemon which was a plea to forgive his runaway slave, Onesinus, and accept him back as a brother in the faith. Previously, Onesinus had robbed Philemon, then run away to Rome where he met Paul who had converted him. The lessons derived from Paul’s tactful letter are about practical righteousness, Christian brother and sisterhood, Christian courtesy and
the ‘Law of Love’, which brings joy to the heart. For intimations please see under Coupar Angus. The Sunday service at Bendochy is from 1010.45am, all welcome.

AGM The Blackwater Hall AGM will take place in the hall from 7pm this Thursday, November 3. All welcome. Craft Fair The annual Bridge of Cally Christmas craft fair will take place from 10.30am-2pm at Bridge of Cally Hall on November 26. Stalls will include lots of gifts. There will also be a tombola, cake and candy stall and a ‘guess the weight of the cake’ competition. Entry is £2.50 for adults. Children free of charge. Fee includes teas, coffees, juice and mince pies.
