Church Sunday’s service was conducted by Rev Tom Tait and the readings were by David Chinn (Haggai 2:1-9, 1 Corinthians 10: 16-17). The service included the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. Rev Tait spoke on the significance of sharing in the act of Communion which is a direct link, back over 2000 years, to the night before Jesus was betrayed. Then, at the last supper, He asked His disciples to share the bread, which represents His body, and the wine, which represents His blood, shed for the forgiveness of sins. The invitation to share in the Communion Service is an invitation from Christ Himself for He is the host and we are the guests. The symbolism is profound and, by attending the Lord’s table we pledge ourselves to live and serve in the same way that Christ lived and served. Austin Wilkie, organist, played Prelude in C (J.S.Bach), Largo by Handel and Trumpet Voluntary (J Clarke).
