Bonus Ball The winner of last week’s TICC Bonus Ball was Lily Doig on number 42. Coffee Morning The Thursday Club hold their annual Coffee Morning tomorrow in the TICC at 10am. All welcome. Thursday Club Club members were thrilled to have Kyle and Scott with them this week. Kyle playing the accordion and Scott the drums. They gave us a most enjoyable afternoon of music starting us off with a selection of marches. We then had a Scandinavian Waltz followed by a selection of Pipe Marches, Quick Step, Jazz Twinkle, Shetland Twostep, Irish Waltzes, Polka, Shetland Reels, Norwegian Melody, Hornpipe Medley and the Bluebell Polka when Anne and Eileen kindly gave us a dance demo. Following on we had a sing-along then the young lads concluded a wonderful afternoon’s entertainment with a selection of jigs. It was definitely a foot tapping time for all of us. Absolutely brilliant. Whinnybank Cat Sanctuary Sue has caught the domestic mum and four feral kittens reported under a shed in Methil last week. It only took her two hours to catch them all as the people had thankfully taken note not to feed them. She also managed to catch a stray tom who took ages to find. Once again she returned home to another call-out, this time to a mum and three kittens in St Andrews who she will catch this week. Hopefully the mum will be returned once she has been neutered. The female with the collar injury caught in Leven last week is not healing as well as we had hoped so she will have to have an operation and a number of stitches this week. Linda did a new window display in our Newburgh shop this week featuring lots of good quality knitting yarns - pure new wool, mohair, cotton etc and good labels including Jaegar and Sirdar. The display will only be on for two weeks as it will then be time for her to do our Christmas windows! Thanks go to Claire and to Sophie and Ian from St Andrews for their kind donations of lots of much-needed cat food. If you can offer a home to a cat, help at fundraising events, in our shops or at the sanctuary, please call Sue on 01337 840414, or see us online at www.catchat.org/adoption/fife. html and www.whinnybank.org.uk

Arthritis Awareness in Atholl Arthritis Awareness in Atholl meets in Moulin Hall at 2.30pm on Monday, November 7. The speaker is Vivian

Milford of Perth and Kinross Council Recycling Department. Everyone welcome. Football Vale of Atholl FC (sponsored by RW Bell Building Services). Perthshire Cup - Burrelton 1, Vale 3 (McLauchlan 2, Scrimgeour 1). Team: Taylor, Henderson, Kennedy, Carr, Robinson, Smillie, Young, Houston, Robertson, McLauchlan, Scrimgeour, Millar, Berry, Clark, Williamson and MacLellan. Vale had a stronger squad for this cup tie. Smillie, Houston, Millar, Scrimgeour and MacLellan were available again. Crowe, Simpson, MacLeod, Barrie, McLeod, Irvine, Darabus were out for various reasons, mainly injured. Burrelton started better, playing the ball about smartly at the back and in midfield until they got near the goals when Vale’s defence more often than not took it off them. Vale started to impose

themselves and found their shooting boots. Sean McLauchlan ran through to beat the keeper in the 25th minute. Vale had to make a change when Matt Robertson was cut down going through by two defenders. Graeme Millar came on in his place. Despite having the better of things (including a certain penalty claim turned down when Smillie was tumbled) the score remained the same at the break. Vale took command in the second half. Young, Houston, Millar, Smillie and Robinson assisting the forwards at every opportunity, they just couldn’t finish their good outfield play. Fifteen minutes into the half McLauchlan again scored when he fired a loose ball into the net. Ben Scrimgeour was unlucky on a couple of occasions but got the goal his work deserved when he chipped the keeper from 25 yards for Vale’s third with 20

minutes remaining. Vale should have been awarded another penalty, again though the Referee didn’t see anything. Clark, Berry, MacLellan replaced Smillie, McLauchlan and Robinson. The home side did pull a goal back in the last minute, the winger crossing after the ball was well over the line and should have been a goal kick. Vale more or less stopped and Burrelton’s centre headed home. Vale didn’t have any failures with all the squad playing to their best form. Tight at the back, inventive in the midfield with the forwards looking to score at every opportunity. There were numerous candidates for player of the match with the award going to Steven Henderson. Tomorrow Vale visit Falkirk to play Pennies AFC in the third round of the Scottish Cup,this will be a very tough game for the club as the home side are one of
