Artie will tell tartan tales at festival event
Perthshire Amber Festival organisers are promising a fun-filled day out this Sunday, November 6 with the decorated wheelbarrow parade and two special shows featuring Artie from the Singing Kettle in Dunkeld.
The Singing Kettle’s creator and former star, Artie Trezise, is coming to the Perthshire Amber Festival with his exciting new production ‘Artie’s Tartan Tales’ and it is the first time that those behind the popular annual music event have put on an event specifically for children.
The fantastic family-friendly show, which wil be performed twice on the Sunday, will feature traditional stories and songs with a Scottish accent and promises to be action-packed, enthralling and interactive.
Artie’s Tartan Tales includes classic songs from the Singing Kettle, as well as a whole new repertoire of children’s stories with lots of audience participation.
From ‘Three Little Pigs’ to ‘The Train to Glasgow’, delivered in a unique, charming, engaging style, Artie will entertain Singing Kettle fans and new audiences of all ages.
Artie will also take to the stage on Saturday, November 5 alongside his fellow founder of the Singing Kettle Cilla Fisher as part of the Dougie MacLean with Friends Concert at Perth Concert Hall, 8pm.
Jenny MacLean, festival director said: “Dougie and I are delighted to welcome Cilla and Artie to the Perthshire Amber Festival, they both have immense talent and a wonderful past history of performing both in the folk scene and for all our children!
“We are honoured that they have chosen the festival as one of their rare appearances together and as ever the Dougie with Friends Concert will be a fantastic collection of collaborations and inspiring music.”
And also on the Sunday, the decorated wheelbarrow parade and Amber autumn picnic and open air concert will also take place, giving east Perthshire residents the chance to get a flavour of the Perthshire Amber festival this year even though the two Blairgowrie events have already sold out.
This year, Blairgowrie hosts an Amber Cafe event at Cargill’s Restaurant and Bistro on Sunday afternoon featuring The Coaltown Daisies and Buddy MacDonald followed by the festival farewell concert that evening in Blairgowrie Town Hall with musicians including former Blairgowrie High School pupil Dougie MacLean, as well as Ross Ainslie, Sorren MacLean and Hannah Fisher, Gina Macleod and Alan Jordan, Ewen Sutherland, Gordon Maclean and Buddy MacDonald.
The wheelbarrow parade through Dunkeld gets under way at 12.30, led by members of the Vale of Atholl pipe band and the Roman soldiers of the Antonine Guard, and finishing up on the picturesque Stanley Hill behind Dunkeld.
The open air concert there features songwriter Buddy MacDonald from Cape Breton in Canada, The Coaltown Daisies, singer Katee Kross, The Goat Roper Rodeo Band and east Perthshire’s own Dougie MacLean in a truly beautiful setting with a wonderful backdrop of autumn colours.
Everyone is welcome to attend this free event, although organisers recommend that people wrap up warm and bring an umbrella just in case.
Artie’s Tartan Tales take place at 11am and 4.30pm at the Wee Festival Hall in the Royal Singing Kettle hitmaker Artie Trezise
