Eleven boats splashed into the water as Perth Sailing Club’s long summer points series racing reached a climax.

Conditions were dry accompanied by a westerly force 2-3 wind, sometimes increasing, then decreasing in intensity.

In what proved to be a tight race, Bob and Anne Watson crossed the line first, followed by Sandy Rodger crewed by daughter Jennifer, then Bill Inches in third.

As the wind was decreasing for the final race of the 2016 year, Alan Jones and Jim Galloway declined to take part.

And again it was the Watson’s who clinched top spot on the podium with Euan MacDonald second and the Rodger’s following closely behind.

Sunday witnessed the last of the general sailing this year with a good turnout of seven boats taking advantage of the excellent weather.

Duty officer Andrew Porteous officiated with John Ferguson providing safety cover. It was a closing sail enjoyed by all members who took part.

Club members are reminded that an impromptu Bonfire Night will be held at the club on Saturday evening.

Results after handicap:

Saturday, October 29 - Race 1 - 1st Hellespont (B Inches), 2nd Aeolian (B Watson/A Watson), 3rd Woodpecker (J Galloway). Race 2: 1st Aeolian (B Watson/A Watson), 2nd Whooper (A Porteous), 3rd Hellespont (B Inches).
