Perth Strathtay athlete Sol Sweeney had another outstanding run in a major championship last weekend.
Sol, along with team mate and under 20 age group rival Ben Greenwood, were part of a great Harriers team at the event.
The pair have had a great 2016 season but for Sol it has been all about improving his already great personal best performances.
On Saturday, November 5, Sol competed in the Scottishathletics Short Course Cross Country Championships held at King George V Playing Fields, Renfrew.
Sol achieved second place over the 4K course in a time of 12 minutes 33 seconds in the under 20 men’s race.
Fellow Harrier Ben Greenwood also had a good run finishing the 4K course in a time of 12 minutes and 54 seconds.
●Perth Strathtay Harriers is in the running for support from insurer Aviva.
But the city athletics club’s bid to the Aviva Community Fund requires public support.
If successful the Harriers would pump in the support to two projects - a general one for its Harriers development scheme and the other - PHysical which is aimed at supported athletes.
To win funding the group needs as many people as possible to vote for its projects as possible.
People who want to support Perth Strathtay Harriers’bid have to register on the website, https://communityfund.aviva.co.uk/ Each person gets 10 votes. A spokesperson for the Harriers said any support in its funding bid would be appreciated.
