Literary line up is aimed at all ages

Culture Perth and Kinross Libraries have announced a series of events to celebrate Book Week Scotland.

Perth, Scone, Crieff, Blairgowri­e, Kinross and Auchterard­er will host events from November 21-27 that celebrate books and reading.

Eight different events will show how reading can expose us to a world of discovery, exploratio­n and adventure.

Writers set to visit the region include BBC Radio Scotland presenter and author Theresa Talbot, children’s book author Keith Brumpton and best-selling crime writer Clare Mackintosh.

The 2016 programme offers something for readers of all ages to enjoy: ●An Evening with Simon Scarrow, November 22, AK Bell Library, Perth, 7.30pm ●An Evening with James Robertson, November 23, Auchterard­er Library, 7.30pm ●Meet the Author: Clare Mackintosh, November 24, AK Bell Library Perth. 11am ●An Evening with Theresa Talbot, November 24, Strathearn Library, Crieff, 7.30pm ●Earthmover­s in Scotland with David Author and presenter Theresa Talbot

Wylie, November 24, Blairgowri­e Library, 7.30pm ●Charlie, Meg and Me; an illustrate­d talk with Gregor Ewing, November 25, Loch Leven Library, Kinross, 7.30pm ●Family Fun with Keith Brumpton, November 26, Strathearn Library, Crieff, 11.30am ●Birds, Beasts and Books: An Illustrate­d Talk with Polly Pullar, November 26, Scone Library, 11pm

Helen Smout, Chief Executive of Culture Perth and Kinross commented: “We’re delighted to be holding a series of such interestin­g and varied events at six of our libraries across Perth and Kinross, giving everyone in the community the opportunit­y to share their love of reading - we can’t wait for everyone to grab a good book and join us!

“If you can’t make it along, remember that Book Week Scotland is the perfect chance to get signed up to your library or dig out your old membership card, to make sure there are books in your house and to take the time to enjoy them by yourself and together with your children.”

Initiated by the Scottish Government and supported, along with a Readers in Residence programme in libraries, by £200,000 from Creative Scotland, Book Week Scotland will be delivered by Scottish Book Trust.
