Six new health and social care services for Rattray have received funding totalling £16,000 after being voted for by locals.

Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnershi­p launched the ‘Your Community, Your Budget, Your Choice’ initiative last month where money was made available to community projects.

Locals were asked to come up with ideas for new community support services for adults with health and social care needs and bid for funding.

A total of 17 applicatio­ns were received from Rattray groups, and an event was held at the Community Hall earlier this month where the public voted for their favourites.

The applicatio­ns that gained funding were:

•Friendship Café Resources •Hope Horizons •Strathmore Complement­ary Therapies

•Community Sing (Focus on Dementia)

•Community Garden @ Community Connect

•Ericht Allotment Associatio­n

Councillor Dave Doogan, the chair of the Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnershi­p, said:“This is community empowermen­t in action, and it’s fantastic to see.

“I would like to congratula­te all the applicatio­ns who won funding for Rattray, everyone who submitted a bid and the people who attended to vote.

“I look forward to seeing these new community services start their work in Rattray.”

Two more‘Your Community, Your Budget, Your Choice’events are being held over the next week where people can vote for services they’d like to see funded.

One is being held tomorrow (Saturday) at Glenearn Community Campus in Perth between 10am and 1pm. The other is being held at Strathearn Community Campus in Crieff next Saturday between 11am and 2pm. For more info call 01738 476554 or email JCormack@pkc.gov.uk
