A deserved three points for County

It was a result surprising to the neutral. But many Perth fans were fearing the worst before kick-off, having already watched their side fall to McDiarmid Park defeats against Kilmarnock and Partick Thistle this term.

Ross County were fully deserving of the three points, of that there is no question, but once again the manner of the goals conceded will have infuriated manager Tommy Wright.

Perth has, for a number of years, been a difficult destinatio­n for opposition teams. That reputation’s been built on a hardto-beat mentality throughout a squad who rarely offer up free gifts, even in the Christmas run-up.

But far too much space was offered to the Highlander­s at the weekend, allowing Jay McEveley, Christophe­r Routis, Craig Curran and Liam Boyce to all score with headers to give the visitors maximum points.

To their credit, Saints started this Premiershi­p clash on the front foot and looked threatenin­g in the opening 15 minutes. The final pass or finish was not forthcomin­g, however.

Captain Steven Anderson picked up possession in an uncharacte­ristically advanced position after six minutes and displayed some neat feet before having a powerful drive deflected behind for a corner.
